Lion, like many businesses is focused on delivering value to shareholders through initiatives that reduce operating costs.

The newly designed building in Tamaki, originally specified with fluorescent had been operational for just a short period of time.

Whilst the lighting design and light levels met the clients requirements, we proposed power and maintenance savings were possible without compromising the original design.

We presented the product for trial and feedback from staff was positive and Lion were impressed with the power savings.

Lion decided that if the project progressed, work should include the addition of lighting control equipment to ensure that lights were only operational when required by staff.

Schneider Electric, joined BLS® on the project, supplying the control gear and taking responsibility for the EECA grant application.

Lion’s decision to upgrade its fluorescent lights to an Ecofluro® LED solution was predicated on two key objectives:

To reduce the power and maintenance costs associated with lighting and reduce the size of Lion’s carbon footprint.

On confirmation the original light fixtures were upgraded with Ecofluro® by Allphase Electrical.

Changes were made in line with our instructions and the changes to wiring clearly marked on the light fixture with the pre-printed label supplied with every product

After installation, responsibility for compliance to NZ standards passed back to BLS ®

Schneider Electric will continue to monitor, measure and verify savings for the duration of the grant.

The project has been running without fault since installation and has delivered the predicted savings.

Staff feedback for the new light source was overwhelmingly positive.
