Foodstuffs Auckland’s new Panmure Four Square  features a comprehensive, LED lighting system from BLS® that will deliver power and maintenance savings in excess of $150,000 over 10 years.

The New Zealand made Ecofluro® Infinity luminaire was chosen to provide continuous strip lighting for the store. It was fitted with Ecofluro® 1200 20W lights

Products were supplied in 2.4m lengths for rapid assembly and installation to the existing suspended ceiling by Owl Electrical, using the Infinity Quick Clip system.

The Ecofluro ® Infinity system is designed to minimize maintenance, unlike fluorescent systems there is no ballast or starter hidden within the fitting, there are simply no parts to maintain.

Instead the Ecofluro ® T8 LED tube is fully self contained. Maintaining the system in the long term is simply a case of swapping tubes as they reach the end of their life.

Infinity is extremely efficient delivering up to114lm/W with a 100% light output ratio (LOR) and no reflected losses.

Ecofluro ® LEDs have a calculated L70 > 79,000 hours, which equates to a maintenance free period of 15 years based on operating 14 hours a day.

Target light levels were accurately predicted at the design stage, with Infinity installed perpendicular to aisles to ensure consistent and even distribution of light on vertical planes.

Ecofluro ® T8 LEDs deliver outstanding colour rendering because of the broad spectrum phosphors we use to encapsulate the LEDs.

The results surpassed the clients expectations with rich primary’s and smooth pastel shades, and a lift in the leafy greens, reds and yellows in the fresh produce areas.

The installation included seismic tethers, to ensure tubes remain supported during seismic events.

This additional feature, was built into the Infinity system by BLS ® at the design stage, after reviewing damage at sites in Christchurch.

Many fluorescent tubes fell from fittings or broke inside fittings during the recent earthquakes, releasing highly toxix mercury vapour and residue into confined environments and contaminating sites and the products within.

The seismic tethers are designed to prevent this damage occuring, provided the structure of the building remains intact.
